Electro-Etching Residency in Gran Canarias January 2020
Working with Crujero in a one on one instruction while living in a beautiful environment with a small apartment overlooking the wild ocean was wonderful. Electro-etching is a nontoxic much more controllable form of etching which is much healthier. I also learned how to set up my own workshop at home. I found that I could use all the techniques of intaglio, except not using acids, with all the variations involved, instead controlled with timing and amount of electric amp.
It is wonderful to be able to have a block of time devoted solely to focusing on the one project, which was developing my copper plates laser shaped into the shape of Greek vases then using classical motif added “drawn stories” to describe events. I found the events are ageless in some ways.
